Joan Mobley

Joan Mobley is an independent consultant and president of JTM Consulting, Inc. (incorporated 1994), a leadership-training firm specializing in leadership development for individuals, communities and non-profit organizations. She has special expertise in the design and implementation of a venture called "The InterCity Leadership Visit: a community development program of leadership exchange"?. This approach brings together a diverse delegation of leadership from a city or region, representing the private, public and nonprofit sectors, to explore "best practices" in another city or region. 

The delegation of 100+ leaders spends three to four days in another city, engaged in dialogue with their peers on urban, community and economic development issues. Joan was instrumental in the creation and/or implementation of the InterCity Leadership Visit Program in such cities as Jacksonville, FL; Denver, CO; St. Louis, MO; Austin, TX; Birmingham, AL; Mankato, MN; Minneapolis/Saint Paul, MN; Pittsburgh, PA and Nashville, TN.  She has participated in over forty-five such exchanges.

Concurrent with forming JTM Consulting, Mobley was Executive Director of the Eleanor Women's Foundation in Chicago for three years, and before that she was senior vice president and chief operating officer for the Greater Denver Chamber of Commerce in Colorado.  Mobley also has held executive positions with the Jacksonville, Florida, Chamber of Commerce, the University of North Florida and the Municipal Museums of Baltimore in Maryland.

Mobley has been a director of AAA Chicago Motor Club since 1996, and has just completed her service on the board of The Auto Club Group, holding company for multi-state AAA organizations.  She is also on the board of directors for Artrain USA (Chair). 

Mobley served on the board of Cultural Tourism DC, the Chicago Goodwill Industries Foundation and is past president of the North Michigan Avenue Business and Professional Women's Network.  She has been a director of Colorado Community Initiatives, Colorado Chamber of Commerce Executives and has chaired the boards of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival and the Baltimore City Fair.  She is a member of the Alliance for Regional Stewardship, American Chamber of Commerce Executives and the Alliance for Non-Profit Management.

Mobley holds a bachelors degree in mathematics from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Her studies continued at American Association of Zoological Parks and Aquariums Management School, North Carolina State University, Wheeling, West Virginia and Chamber Institute of Organizational Management, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia. 

In addition, Mobley has expanded her management learning through being selected to participate in the Womens Management Development Project at Goucher College, Towson, MD, Influence of Denver, Denver, CO and Leadership America.
